It’s a trend for NJPW to have their contracts start and end in January, making speculation pop up a lot during this time of year. In the case of Kenny Omega, there won’t be much room for speculation this time around. Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Kenny Omega has reached an agreement with New Japan until January 31, 2019. Last night on Wrestling Observer Radio Dave Meltzer touched on this topic, saying that he doesn’t know if it’s “pen on paper” yet, but the agreement definitely has been made.
Speculation ran wild for a couple weeks last year when Kenny Omega was a free agent weighing his options. He did eventually decide to sign with New Japan once again, but also considered where else he could go. Last year Omega did an interview on Wrestling Observer Radio all about this topic.
