Tuesday Night PWG announced all 24 participants that will appear in this year Battle Of Los Angeles (BOLA). The Reseda crowd will be honored in having some of the best talent not only in the United States but across the world. BOLA will take place on September 1,2 & 3. Here is the full field for BOLA 2017.
Flamita: Mexico CIty, Mexico
At the age of 22, Flamita is being regarded as one of the best luchadores around the world even being compared to Rey Mysterio by Dave Meltzer . Flamita debuted at the age of 15 and has worked for promotions such as AAA in Mexico and Dragon Gate in Japan. Flamita has recently gained notice by participating at the Super Strong Style 16 tournament for Progress Wrestling earlier this year. This will be Flamita PWG Debut and first ever BOLA.
Keith Lee: Dallas, Texas
The 6 foot 300 Pound big man will participate in his first BOLA and has made become a fan favorite at PWG since his debut against two fellow BOLA participants Sami Callihan and Brian Cage. Keith Lee has also been apart of other promotions such as Ring of Honor, Rev Pro, Beyond Wrestling and is a regular for EVOLVE wrestling.
WALTER: Oberhausen, Germany
A member of Ringkampf, WALTER stands 6’4’’ and weighs over 400 pounds. With 11 years of experience the big man will not only be making his PWG debut but also making his first BOLA appearance and also his first United States apperance.WALTER is recognized for his career in wXw in Germany winning both the world title and has won the 16 Carat Gold tournament. WALTER has also recently defeated BOLA participant Matthew Riddle for the Progress Atlas Title.
Travis Banks: Auckland, New Zealand
“The Kiwi Buzzsaw: is growing into a big name over the U.K., Banks has had recent tournament success winning this year’s Super Strong Style 16 tournament for Progress and is also the current Lucha Forever Champion and holds one half of the Rev Pro British Tag Team Championships with CCK member Chris Brookes. Banks will be debut in PWG and BOLA with fellow South Pacific Power Trip partner TK Cooper.
Rey Fenix: Mexico CIty, Mexico
Rey Fenix will take part in his third BOLA. He has suffered first round losses in the last two BOLA’s to Matt Sydal and Will Osprey. Rey Fenix Has held titles in Lucha Underground, AAA, The Crash and is currently one half of the AAW Tag Team Champions with AR Fox as well one half of the PWG World Tag Team Champions with PENTA EL ZERO M.
Dezmond Xavier: Dayton, Ohio
Known as the “Kardiac Kid” the former member of the United States Air Force, Xavier is one of the fastest rising high flyers the indies has. Xavier has competed for promotions such as CZW, AAW as well as Impact Wrestling. Xavier also made his PWG Debut earlier this year against Shane Strickland, this will be Xavier’s first ever BOLA.
Donovan Dijak: Worcester, Ma
The tallest competitor in tournament at 6’7”, the 2015 Ring of Honor Top prospect winner, has been on a tear wrestling for promotions such as AAW and EVOLVE and is getting recognition around the world taking part of this year 16 Carat Gold tournament for wXw and had recently made his debut for Progress Wrestling. Dijack will be another competitor making his PWG AND BOLA Debut.
Jeff Cobb: Honolulu, Hawaii
The former Olympian is ready to get some retribution after suffering a first round loss to Ricochet last year at BOLA 2016. Jeff Cobb returns to his second BOLA and has made a huge impact in PWG since partaking in BOLA last year since forming “The Chosen Bros.” with partner Matthew Riddle. Look for Cobb to be a favorite in this years BOLA.
Trevor Lee: Cameron, North Carolina
A PWG regular since upsetting Kevin Steen in Steen’s last PWG match. A former PWG Tag Team Champion. Lee has had some major success in BOLA since his first ever appearance in 2014. Lee was a finalist last year with Will Osprey and Marty Scrull but Lee ultimately was defeated by the eventual winner Marty Scrull. Can Lee finally win the big one this year?
“Flash” Morgan Webster: Abertillery, Wales
After injuring himself last year against Zack Sabre Jr in a WWE Cruiserweight Classic qualifier, Webster is another addition to the international talent pool for BOLA who will be making there debut for PWG. The current Pro Wrestling Chaos champion and the winner of the Progress Natural Progression Series winner is ready to prove why he is an international name people should look after.
Zack Sabre Jr: Isle of Sheppey, Kent, England, U.K.
The former PWG Champion is ready to become the first ever two time BOLA winner. Since making his PWG debut in 2014 there is a real debate if Zack Sabre Jr. is the best wrestler in the world. The current Evolve Champion and Rev Pro British Heavyweight champion is ready to add more prestige to his list of accomplishments. The technical wizard is looking to go after his former PWG Championship title back.
Sammy Guevara: Houston, Texas
Simply known as “The Best Ever”, Sammy Guevara recently made his PWG debut against fellow BOLA participant Rey Horus at “Pushin Forward Back”, Guevara has been a been a mainstay in the Texas Promotion Wrestling Circus. Can Guevara officially become “Mr. PWG” after this years BOLA Weekend?
Mark Haskins: Malvern, Worecestershire, England, U.K.
Haskins was a semi-finalist in last year’s BOLA with wins over Cedric Alexander and Kyle O’Reilly but ultimately lost to the eventual winner Marty Scrull. The former Progress Champion who returned to action earlier this year from a neck injury, Haskins is hoping he can still have the same success as last year’s tournament.
Jonah Rock: Adelaide, South Australia
Maybe the darkhorse in the tournament the Australian native is ready to open some eyes at BOLA. Rock has competed for Pro Wrestling Noah in Japan from 2013-2015. He will also be making his PWG and BOLA debut this weekend.
Brian Cage Chico,California
A Powerhouse, Cage will be participating in his fifth BOLA. Brian Cage has had success in PWG not only as a singles competitor but also as a Tag Team with Unbreakable F’n Machines partner Michael Elgin. Cage has wrestled for PWG since 2010.
Rey Horus: Tijuana, Mexico
Known as El Dragon Azteca Jr. on Lucha Underground, Horus made his PWG debut in a losing to Sammy Guevara at “Pushin Forward Back”, Horus is the current The Crash Cruiserweight Champion and will be joining the list of new luchadores ready to make a debut in his first ever BOLA.
Marty Scurll: Cambridge, U.K.
The newest member of the Bullet Club and last year’s BOLA winner is seeking to also become a first time Two time BOLA such as his LDRS partner Zack Sabre Jr. Marty Scurll had recently made his NJPW debut after being part of the Super Juniors Tournament and recently was a finalist in the Rev Pro British J Cup losing to Jushin Thunder Liger. Can the former Progress Champion and former Ring of Honor Television Champion add another BOLA win underneath his Umbrella?
Michael Elgin: Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
“Unbreakable” Michael Elgin has been a two time BOLA finalist but ultimately was defeated by Adam Cole in 2012 and Kyle O’Reilly in 2013. Elgin has become a force in NJPW and the former Ring of Honor Champion and IWGP Intercontinental Champion looks to finally win his first BOLA and will be competing in his first BOLA since 2014.
TK Cooper: Auckland, New Zealand
TK Cooper will be making his PWG and BOLA debut such as his South Pacific Power Trip partner Travis Banks. TK Cooper has competed for Progress Wrestling and also took part of WWE’s WrestleMania Axxess weekend having matches against Jimmy Havoc and teaming with Banks against Mustafa Ali and Rich Swann.
Matt Sydal: St. Louis, Missouri
Matt Sydal is one of the veterans in this year’s BOLA, Sydal competed in the 2006 BOLA but returned to PWG in 2014 after a tenure in WWE as Evan Bourne. Sydal is a former WWE Tag Team champion & an IWGP Junior Heavyweight tag team champion with fellow BOLA participant Ricochet. This year will be Sydal’s fifth BOLA.
Sami Callihan: Bellefontaine, Ohio
After returning from the Indies from NXT, Sami Callihan has been a huge factor across the Independent wrestling landscape, Callihan took part of his first BOLA last year after competing in his first BOLA since 2012 where he lost in the Semi-Finals to eventual winner Adam Cole. Callihan is the current AAW Heavyweight and looks to add a BOLA win to his already large list of accomplishments.
Matthew Riddle: Las Vegas, Nevada
The current WWN champion and former Progress Atlas champion looks to avenge his first round loss to Kyle O’Reily in last year’s BOLA. Since his debut after last year’s BOLA, the former UFC fighter is trying to put his name as one of the Best in the World. Riddle will look to be a tough competitor for any opponent in the BOLA field this year.
Ricochet: Paducah, Kentucky
Ricochet will enter as the most experienced wrestler in this year’s BOLA, Ricochet will be competing in his sixth BOLA. Ricochet is also only the third competitor in this year’s BOLA to win their second BOLA (Sabre Jr. & Scurll). The former Best of Super Juniors tournament winner, has held titles all over the including Japan and in the U.K.. Ricochet looks not only to add a BOLA win but seeks to also go after the PWG Championship.
PENTA EL ZERO M: Mexico City, Mexico
Penta El Zero M is currently one of half of the PWG Tag Team champions with Rey Fenix and holds the AAW heritage Championship. PENTA EL ZERO M will compete in his third BOLA, although not winning the tournament PENTA EL ZERO M has lost to the eventual winner of the tournament the last two years (Sabre Jr in 2015 & Scurll in 2016).
